Diversion tactics at Dobcross for KNDS Fairey

There will be a sneak preview of Fairey's preparations on the Area test-piece as they bring their Showcase Entertainment to Dobcross.

The KNDS Fairey Band will warm up for its North West Regional Championship appearance in Blackpool later this month by making a welcome return to Dobcross Band Club on Sunday 16th February for what is the second concert of the venue's new Sunday afternoon 'Showcase Brass' series (2.00pm).

Showcase Brass

'Showcase Brass' is a non-profit initiative that aims to bring regular concerts to the heart of community that has a proud tradition of brass band music making and was recently kicked off in fine fashion by Hammonds Band.

Now it the turn KNDS Fairey with an audience friendly programme that will feature plenty of easy listening favourites and a host of soloists.

On the programme is the march 'Simoraine' followed 'Academic Festival Overture', 'Spitfire, Prelude and Fugue', and 'MacArthur Park' whilst the first half that will also give fans the chance to hear the forthcoming Area test-piece, 'Diversions' by Derek Bourgeois.

The band's fine stable of soloists will also feature with Iain Culross on 'Fairies of the Water', Peter McDonaugh on 'Glorious Liberation' and Rebecca Lundberg playing 'Blessed Assurance'.

Tickets can be bought on the door at £10 and £6.

Wantage Silver Band

August 22 • Wantage Concert Brass (1st Section) are looking for a SOLO HORN and PERCUSSIONIST. Under the direction of our dynamic and inspiring MD Daniel Hall. This year we achieved 3rd at the L&SC regionals. We rehearse Tue & Fri 7:30pm- 9:30pm in our own bandhall

August 20 • Front Row Cornet & Tenor Trombone. We're a friendly, ambitious Second Section band based in South East Northumberland just north of Blyth. We rehearse Tuesdays & Thursdays, 19:30-21:30, and transport can be provided depending on location.


Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band

August 18 • Putney and Wimbledon Band are looking for a percussionist, ideally tune although the ability to play an anvil is an absolute must! We play exciting music with lots of percussion so there's plenty to keep you occupied.
