Eikanger look back as well as forward with their annual awards to players

Eikanger Bjorsvik Musikklag will defend its Norwegian National title in Bergen in early February, where they will look to make it a hat-trick of victories under the direction of Florent Didier.

2025 will also see the band defend its Siddis Entertainment title, although they will first head to Stavanger for the European Championships in May.

However, they recently took the opportunity to look back at a highly successful 2024, with the presentation of their own annual awards at their Christmas Party.

The 'Role Model' Award, voted on by fellow band members went to tuba player Alexander Reme Torsvik He has been a member of the band since 2015 and has become an integral part of the band's success both on and off the contest stage.

The 'Player of the Year' accolade went to trombone star Vidar Nordli in recognition of his outstanding performances during the year — most memorably in the National title win on their own-choice selection of 'Jesus in Tibet', which he reprised at the European Championships in Palanga.

He was also voted as runner-up in the '4BR Player of the Year' awards by a panel on international journalists and musicians.
