The vastly experienced Peter Bassano will make a welcome return to the contesting stage in taking Brackley & District Band to the Midlands Fourth Section Regional Championship in Bedworth in March.

The former trombonist with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Oxford University Sinfonietta, Helsinki Philharmonic, Britten-Pears Orchestra and City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra he was also a founder member of Equale Brass.

Extensive CV

His extensive conducting CV is also highly respected, as is his commitment to new music, education and as a brass band adjudicator and author.

He made his latest contesting appearance with City of Cambridge Band in 2018, and told 4BR that he was delighted to make a return.

"There was a sense of curiosity, as well as a strong belief that I can help Brackley who are a wonderful organisation full of enthusiasm and musical endeavour. I'm delighted to work with the band and hopefully make a mark at the contest."
