Final prep in place for Brassing Around Gala Concert

Players from several top bands will be supporting the fund raising efforts for the work of Brassing Around this Saturday.

  The concert takes place on Saturday in Sheffield

Final preparations are bring put in place for the second annual Brassing Around Gala Concert which will take place at Sheffield Salvation Army Citadel (S11 8YN) on Saturday 4th January (7.00pm).

It will feature players form Black Dyke, Carlton Main Frickley, Cory, Foden's, Grimethorpe Colliery, GUS, Tredegar and more to help support the work undertaken by student Elise Hale and friends with their 'Brassing Around' coverage of banding events.

As Elise told 4BR: "The aim of the concert is to raise money to be able to travel to more places and get more coverage of bands this year."

Elise has promised a great evening of music making with plenty of family friendly pieces on the programme from Damien Lagger, Simon Dobson, Paul Lovatt-Cooper, Philip Sparke, Fredrick Schjelderup and Ludovic Neurohr featured alongside world premieres of new works by Malcolm Hannaford-Waddington called 'My Child's Hand' and 'Activo' by Hayden Barber.

The two featured soloists are Foden's horn star Jonathan Bates and Grimethorpe principal cornet, Jamie Smith.
