The Whitburn Band created its own bit of history at the recent Scottish Open by taking to the stage with 12 female players.
It is believed to be the highest number to perform at a contest with the band in its 154-year history.
Foundations
The future of the former Scottish Champion is also being built on the strongest of youthful foundations, with Whitburn Youth Band conducted by Caroline Farren leaving the Scottish Youth Championships with a well deserved Gold Award in the Intermediate Section.
That talent is being encouraged with a number of the players sitting in with the senior band at recent rehearsals.
Cornet star Carter also played 'The Ash Grove' as a soloist with the band at their recent Christmas Concert whilst fellow cornet player Eilidh will be playing with the band this weekend at a concert at Howden Park.
