Judges announced for 2025 Scottish Championships

The judges who will pick the all important Cheltenham and Albert Hall qualifiers in Perth have been announced.

Perth
  The contest takes place at Perth Concert Hall.

The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) has announced the team of adjudicators who will make the all-important decisions at the 129th Scottish Championships on the 8th & 9th March 2025.

Two bands from each section will be invited to represent the nation at the National Championships in Cheltenham and London later in the year.

The team consists of David Barringer, Alan Fernie, Stan Lippeatt and Mark Wilkinson.

Saturday 8th March will start with the Second Section, followed by the Third and First Sections. Sunday 9th March will start with the Fourth Section followed by the non-competitive Section 4b and the Championship Section.

Saturday 8th March:
First Section:

Second Section:

Test piece: Friendly Takeover by Oliver Waespi

Third Section:
Adjudicators: Alan Fernie and Stan Lippeatt
Test piece: Arkansas by Jacob de Haan

Sunday 9th March:
Fourth Section:
Adjudicators: Mark Wilkinson and Stan Lippeatt
Test piece: I, Daedalus by Andrea Price

Test piece: Own choice

Besses o'th' Barn Band

December 12 • Due to a change of circumstances. The band now require one front row cornet and two back row cornets to complete our line up for the North West Area Contest in Blackpool..


Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band

December 10 • Solo Baritone and Percussion required to add to the band building towards the NEMBBA and area contests. Under the Direction of Duncan Beckley, the band is keen to fill the few remaining seats to add to the continually improving ensemble.


Barnsley Brass

December 10 • Barnsley Brass requires an Eb bass player. We are based in Worsbrough Bridge on the A61 just south of Barnsley. Rehearsals are Monday and Thursday evenings at 8pm in our purpose built bandroom.
