MBE presentation for Langholm stalwart

It is now David Calvert MBE after Langholm stalwart is presented with well deserved honour.

Calvert
It is now David Calvert MBE

One of the most popular figures within the Scottish banding movement has recently been presented with an MBE.

Langholm Town Band cornet player David Calvert received the honour in recognition of his outstanding voluntary service to the band and wider community. David was the major driving force behind the creation of a junior band to encourage youngsters to learn to play brass instruments.

Selfless

His selfless continuous service has been critical to the ongoing success of the band whose members offered their sincere congratulations on his honour.

Accompanied by his family, David received the MBE from the Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries, Fiona Armstrong, alongside Deputy Lieutenant, John Hammond, on behalf of King Charles III.

New Year Honour

The veteran bandsman has been a dedicated and committed supporter of Langholm Town Band for the majority of his life, having joined aged 12.

He was awarded the MBE by His Majesty the King in the New Years Honours.
