The Woodhouse Band from Sheffield is reported to be looking for a new home to ensure that it can carry on providing its community with a hub of musical activity.
Having been formed 171 years ago the non-contesting band boasts 28 players plus a further thriving youth set-up of another 25 learners.
Pretty hopeful
However, financial challenges mean that the band needs to find a new local home, although the report on the BBC South Yorkshire website page stated that they were "pretty hopeful" of being able to find one.
The band's Life President, Jeanette Grayson, stated that although their current 19th century-built Tythe Barne in Woodhouse was the "perfect spot", it was no longer financially viable to stay there.
Fund raising
"The village has been good to us," she said, whilst adding that the band also provides valuable support to its members as well as the community it serves. "We call it our band family, that's what it means to us," she said.
The band is now undertaking a series of concerts to help raise funds to pay for the move.
