Stanley Entertainment contenders ready for 10th anniversary

12 bands will compete at the Stanley Entertainment Contest later this month.

  The event is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year

October marks a busy month in the brass band contesting calendar with major events at home and abroad.

One important regional event is the 10th anniversary Stanley Brass Band Entertainment Contest that takes place on Sunday 13th October at The Barn, South Causey Inn, Stanley in County Durham (DH9 0LS).

Kick off

It kicks off at 10.00am with the first of 12 bands providing their 20-minute entertainment programmes for adjudicator Daniel Brooks (music), Gareth Sykes (soloists) and Bea Atkinson (entertainment) as well as the audience to enjoy.

First prize is £250 plus a trophy with podium awards as well as individual and section awards.

The organisers have tod 4BR that they are delighted that New Moon Insurance is adding £100 for the highest placed band which is insured with them.

July 13 • We are a friendly & sociable Second Section Band. We currently have vacancies for a FRONT ROW CORNET player, a 2nd EUPHONIUM player and PERCUSSIONISTS. Our MD is Will Douglas and we rehearse in Welwyn Garden City on Sunday evenings from 7.00-9.00pm.
