Despite the competing attraction of the 'Last Night of the Proms', the start of 'Strictly Come Dancing', Friary Brass Band still attracted a packed audience to the St Nicolas Church, Bookham for their most recent concert.
Show time
At the organisers' request, the music was primarily from stage and screen, with the band performing selections as well as individual items from the likes of 'West Side Story', 'Harry Potter', 'Oklahoma' and 'Porgy & Bess' interspersed with eclectic items such as 'Oblivion', 'The Waltonian' and 'I'll Walk with God'.
Soprano player, Glen Carroll, made his solo debut with his rendition of 'Gethsemane', whilst ' Manhattan Skyline', a personal favourite of Friary MD Nigel Taken, brought the evening to a rousing conclusion.

Speaking about the band's appearance, Rev Barbara McDonald commented: "It was great to see the church full and the audience enjoying every moment. It was a real treat to have such high-quality live music brought right to our doorstep."
In response, Band Chairperson, David Wicks said: "It was an absolute joy to return to St Nicolas and such a pleasure to play to a full house again."
