Kevin Johnson, one of the stalwart members of the Llwydcoed Band organisation has announced his decision to step down from his role as Band Chairperson and trustee
2024 has marked 24 year of his involvement in the South Wales band — one which saw him as one of driving forces in their rise from the Fourth to the Championship Section.
It was capped with the band making their Royal Albert Hall National Final debut in 2021 and again in 2023 where they came 7th and in winning the Senior Cup in Blackpool in the May.
Great journey
Speaking on his Facebook page he said: "It's been a great journey and I'm so privileged to have met so many friends over the years.
I've loved everything, especially our first contest in the Fourth Section and of course in getting to the Albert Hall last year. I just would like to thank everyone who supported me and Llwydcoed Band over the years."
Popular
One of the most respected and popular administrators in the Welsh banding scene, Kevin has suffered with ill health in the past year or so but now looks forward to spending more time with his family and his granddaughter Cadi and new grandchild in November.
