Police busy in Wales

The South Wales Police Band under their MD Alex McGee has enjoyed a busy musical summer.

The South Wales Police Band recently took to the stage at the National Eisteddfod of Wales to cap a very busy summer for the volunteer band.

It has been one that has seen them lead the 'Beating of the Bounds' parade in Llantrisant, take centre stage in the annual Weymouth Veterans Weekend, provide musical accompaniment at the annual South Wales Police' 'Families Day' and lead a civic parade on Cowbridge near Cardiff.

Commitment

Musical Director Alex McGee said told 4BR: "The commitment and musicality show by the band over the summer has been spectacular.

With numerous members also preparing for the Cheltenham National Finals with their own bands we have asked a great deal of them in terms of commitment, and the response has been superb."

Premiere

Members of the band are now looking forward to taking part in the National Police Memorial Service in Glasgow before performing the premiere of their musical director's latest work, a cantata for band and choirs in Haverfordwest in November.
