BrookWright Music: Men of Harlech (trad arr. Alex McGee)

A classic bit Welsh fighting spirit has been given a new feel by composer Alex McGee.

BrookWright
The classic Welsh folk song has been given an exciting musical makeover

The latest release from BrookWright Music is a contemporary take by composer Alex McGee on the stirring Welsh folk song 'Men of Harlech'.

According to Alex, his setting was inspired by a composer Gareth Wood.

He said: "Upon learning of his death I felt compelled to honour his memory and his music. I struck upon the idea of his brilliant take on 'Sosban Fach' and the way he took the raw material and crafted it into something new and exciting.

The work has Welsh characteristics then — a touch of melancholy but quick to find joy that is welcoming and warm but also with a streak national pride."
