Olivia returns to inspire next generation at Lostock

Olivia Hurst will add to her brass band commitments by leading the training of the next generation of Lostock Hall players.

Lostock Hall Memorial Band has welcomed the appointment of Olivia Hurst as the new Musical Director of its Training band.

The 20-year-old cornet player is studying at the RNCM and started her playing with the Lostock organisation eventually becoming principal cornet.

She has also been a member of the National Youth Band of Great Britain. Olivia currently plays with Longridge Band but will now add the training band to her busy schedule.

Flourish and grow

Speaking about her return, Olivia said she had thoroughly enjoyed her trial period cannot wait to see the band "flourish and grow even more".

A spokesperson added: "The training band represents the foundation that the Lostock Hall Memorial band is built on with many of the main band players having progressed from them.

The training band is going from strength to strength and the ranks have swelled during the last two months with members from all ages and abilities joining and with Olivia's drive and determination in this key role the future looks bright."
