Marsden Silver Band has announced that Musical Director Andrew Lofthouse will relinquish his role at the end of June.
It brings to an end a successful six-year tenure during which time he led the Yorkshire band back to the Championship Section as well as a return to the British Open Spring Festival.
Andrew stated that he now aims to spend more time with his family and help grow his business.
Grateful
A band spokesperson said: "Andrew has worked incredibly hard to build a dedicated team, encouraging and developing players of all ages and experience.
He brought great versatility to our concert programmes, introducing a real difference to our repertoire which was much enjoyed by audiences.
We are extremely grateful for his hard work and dedication. He is an immensely talented musician, and we have been lucky to have worked with him."
Difficult decision
In response, Andrew added: "Leaving has been an incredibly difficult decision due to the affection I hold for Marsden Band.
However, over the last couple of years I've been fortunate to see my business continue to grow. This combined with my busy family life means that I'm no longer able to devote the time and commitment required.
I'm very grateful to everyone associated with the band and for the opportunity they have afforded me over the last six years, with numerous excellent performances on both the concert and contest stage."
