The Thrapston Band has announced the appointment their new principal cornet player.

Emily Roberts joins the Northamptonshire based Midlands Third Section champion from Brass Band of Central England.

Award winner

Whilst studying music at the University of York, she played for York Railway Institute Band, and won the 'Best Soloist' award at the 2021 UniBrass Contest.

Emily works as a brass teacher for Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust and away from banding enjoys singing in operas.

A band spokesperson stated: "Emily joins us as we embark on our busy summer programme, and as we start to prepare for the National Championships in Cheltenham in September.

We're thrilled to welcome Emily to Thrapston Town Band."
