There will be a wonderful reprise performance, 51 years in the making, this weekend at the Chester Music Festival.
It will come from Brillo Brass, a group of friends who have come together under the baton of Malcom Perry to mark the half century that has passed since they last appeared at the event in 1973.
The band will also perform 'Little Suite for Brass' by Malcolm Arnold — one of the works alongside Holst's 'Suite No.2' that they played, as Ellesmere Port Grammar School for Boys Band at Chester Town Hall in May 1973.
20 return
Spokesperson David Lancashire told 4BR: "We expect to have 20 players on stage. Thirteen of them played with the Boys Band between 1970 and 1974 and we also welcome two female players who joined the band when it became Whitby Comprehensive School in 1974."
David revealed that all the players were aged between 12 and 15 on the day in 1973, whilst two, in Alan MacDonald and Iain Davey has already become members of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

Great fun
He added: "We have managed to persuade five others to join us for the day to make up the numbers, and we're determined to enjoy ourselves and recall great memories.
It's going to be great fun, especially as we are going to be conducted by Malcolm Perry once again. It shows that the love of making brass band music never leaves you!"
