Tweed Valley arts combine in Innerleithen

A collaboration between local artists, photographers and two bands will bring music and imagery together for a special concert next month.

Tweed Valley
The event will celebrate all that is good musically and artistically about the Tweed Valley

Arts of different genres will join together for a concert with a difference in Innerleithen next month.

Entitled, 'Tweed Valley Brass', it will see St Ronan's Band, Peebles Burgh Silver Band and their youth ensembles perform at the town's Memorial Hall on Saturday 4th May (6.00pm), with the audience also able to enjoy an accompanying art exhibition.

Bring together

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The aim is to bring together the different art forms to celebrate the 'great outdoors' and everything that the beautiful Tweed Valley has to offer."

Not only will there be great music making, but there will be an impressive display of works by local artists and photographers too.

Music and images

St. Ronan's Silver under Michael Marzella and Peebles Burgh Silver led by Vaughan Fleischfresser will also feature music reflecting the aim of the exhibition, whilst Peebles Burgh Youth will join forces with St. Ronan's Future Band to play as Tweed Valley Youth Brass under their leader Keith Belleville.

"Tweed Valley Brass is an exciting new project to bring all of the brass ensembles in Tweeddale together,"explained Claire Bell, Chairperson of the St. Ronan's organisation.

"We have worked together with Peebles Band on many occasions over the years, so it's a real pleasure to be sharing the concert stage together and to be involving your young players too."

Delighted

In response, Donna Hamilton, Chairperson of Peebles Burgh Silver Band added: "We're also delighted to be involved in this new initiative between our two bands and their respective youth sections. It raises the cooperation between us and makes for a great future."
