Charlie Cresswell, a first year student at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he is studying under Prof Brian Kingsley of Opera North, has joined on Eb tuba to team up with Gavin Saynor, Matthew Routley and Owen Garbutt.
Obvious choice
Speaking about the latest signing, Black Dyke Band Director of Music Prof Nicholas Childs told 4BR: "Charlie is an excellent musician and has already played with us on a number of previous engagements, including recordings.
He was therefore an obvious choice when a regular position became available."
Terrific opportunity
In response Charlie said that it was a terrific opportunity to join the band and sit in a section with some of the finest players in the banding world.
