Friary Brass has announced the signing of percussionist Martin Davies.

Martin is a late convert to the banding world, having started playing in 2009 but only joining Godalming Band in 2017.

Whilst studying at Durham University, Martin joined NASUWT Riverside as well as Durham University Brass Band, being part of the band that won the UniBrass title in 2021. He also served as DUBB President.

Delighted

Martin told 4BR: "I'm delighted to join Friary and am looking forward to a wide range of concerts and appearances starting at the National Final followed by Brass in Concert.

I must also give my thanks to NASUWT Riverside for four wonderful years of playing and crazy memories."

Great player

Speaking about the new addition, Friary Chairperson Dave Wicks added: "We're so pleased to have Martin with us. He's a great player and brings with him plenty of experience from his time with Riverside and Durham."
