Trott and Tong connect for future links

Composer Gareth Trott will link up once again with Tongwynlais Temperance Band.

Trott
MD Owen Farr has welcomed back composer Gareth Trott

Composer Gareth Trott is to undertake his first introductory residency with Tongwynlais Temperance Band. The British Army musician will work alongside Musical Director Owen Farr on their latest collaboration.

The Welsh duo had previously worked on the band's 'Great Gatsby' inspired concert programme that saw the duo bring together new arrangements of classics such as Louis Prima's 'Sing, Sing, Sing' alongside Gareth's inventive homage to the great American novel through pop and film music.

New material

Speaking about that link, Owen told 4BR: "Gareth's work has been both inventive and engaging and has allowed us to co-create new material, whilst curating existing repertoire into a themed programme."

The programme, shared with the Staines Band, where Gareth is resident conductor, will continue to feature in the band's repertoire for the remainder of the year, with new works to follow.

Looking forward

In response, Gareth said: "I'm looking forward to exploring the creative possibilities and getting to know the unique qualities of the band as it develops over time."
