The Annual General Meeting of the European Brass Band Association held in Malmo recently confirmed that the 2026 European Brass Band Championships will be held in Linz in Austria.
EBBA delegates unanimously endorsed their application, with the event returning to the city which successfully hosted the festival in 2010.
The decision sees EBBA add to the rota of hosts which includes Palanga (2024) and Stavanger (2025), whilst as 4BR reported during its coverage of the Championships, there is also firm interest from interested parties for 2027 and 2028.
Succesful
Speaking about the decision EBBA President, Ulf Rosenberg stated: "Linz and the region of Upper Austria hosted a very successful EBBC in 2010.
I trust that the European bands and audiences are looking forward to again visiting the beautiful city and iconic Brucknerhaus concert hall right at the banks of the River Danube."
Honoured
In response Manuel Hofer and Philipp Haider from the Cultural Department of the Federal State of Upper Austria who presented the Linz candidature added: "We are honoured to have been elected by the EBBA country delegates.
This European event has the power to unite people with the power of music, and we look forward to seeing them all in Linz."
