Brass Bands England (BBE) is to host an important webinar for event organisers and bands.
Entitled 'Performing with children: How can the BBE BOPA (Body of Persons Approval) help me?' it is aimed at those organising events that include participation from youngsters the under the age of 16.
Hosted on Tuesday 20th June (7.00pm), it will look to learn about why, when and how to use the BBE BOPA for Child Performance Licensing and will be hosted by BBE Membership Development Manager, Alex Parker.
Essential refresher
A BBE spokesperson told 4BR: "The webinar will be an essential refresher for those who use the BOPA regularly but also an opportunity to introduce its use for those who haven't used it before, and to update on new changes such as how the BOPA can cover events in school hours under certain circumstances."
It will also discuss how the BBE BOPA can help improve event by lowering the administrative burden making it easier to participate in events.
Simplifying the process
A Child Performance Licence (CPL) is required for all young people taking part in leisure activities and affects all brass bands working with youngsters under the age of 16. The BOPA can simplify this process.

This session covers both CPLs and BOPAs — what they are, how to use them, and how to apply. This will include contests and festivals as well as a contest, organised by one or number of bodies. It will look at what licensing is required for each type of event and how to adapt and implement safeguarding policies appropriately.
