Euphonium soloist Robbert Vos is currently in Palermo in Sicily teaching at the Conservatorio Alessandro Scarlatti.
It is the latest musical stop-off for the Besson artist and will see him give the world premiere of the piano accompanied version of Kevin Houben's 'Eyes of Wonder', which is dedicated to Robbert's young daughter Celeste.
Home and Manchester
It follows the wind band premiere of the work given last week in in Robbert's Dutch hometown of Oss where he gave a concert with the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, also performing Philip Wilby's magnificent 'Concerto for Euphonium'.
Robbert recently spent time at the RNCM in Manchester giving a masterclass to students in a performance class.
Huge honour
Speaking to 4BR, Robbert said: "The Manchester trip was a huge honour and my thanks go to Steven Mead and David Thornton for the invitation and for the warmth of the welcome from everyone there.
The performances in my hometown were also very special to me, especially as Kevin's wonderful work is dedicated to my daughter. Now this trip to Sicily has shown me just how significant the euphonium is becoming as a solo instrument."
