The Bon Accord Band will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year with a special Gala Concert to be held in its home city of Aberdeen on Sunday 18th June.
It will be held at the Tivoli Theatre (3.00pm) where the stage will be filled by the sound of brass.
Formed in 1962 by the late Stewart Watson MBE, the organisation was created to give young brass and percussion players the opportunity to perform in a brass band once they left school.
Grown in strength
During the last 60 years they have grown in strength — claiming the Third Section Scottish Championship title in 1968, followed by the Second and First in subsequent years.
They have also been successful in other domestic contests and very nearly made it a full set of 'Sottish' Championship titles in 2022 when they came runner-up in the top section.
The band has proudly represented Scotland at the European Brass Band Championships as well as at the Royal Albert Hall three times — most recently in 2022.
Massed bands
Both Bon-Accord Bands will perform a varied musical programme, before coming together with ex-members who wish to join the band on stage with a rousing encore to celebrate the fantastic vision of Aberdeen's 'Man O' Brass.
The band has proudly represented Scotland at the European Brass Band Championships on three occasions as well as at the Royal Albert Hall — most recently in 20224BR
