Although Norwegian champion Eikanger Bjorsvik is concentrating its current focus on its forthcoming appearance at the European Championships in Malmo, they have told 4BR that they are already planning for a busy new season.
The band has a long-standing tradition of players committing each year to their busy schedule which runs from August to June. The European Championship is therefore the final competitive appearance of their 2022/23 calendar.
Vacancies
They are now looking to fill vacancies on solo Eb tuba and percussion that will now arise for 2023/24 which for the first time since 2017/18 will see them take part in four high profile competitions as well as undertake a busy concert and project schedule.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "All our efforts are concentrated on Malmo of course, but we always look to plan for the future, and 2023/24 promises to be a very busy year."
The band will appear at the Siddis Championship in early November followed a few weeks later by a welcome return to the Brass in Concert Championships. February sees them defend their Norwegian National title in Bergen before they head off once more to the European Championships in Palanga.

Contests and concerts
The spokesperson added: "These are very important contests of course, but we also have several high profile concerts such as the BrassWind Festival in Bergen and projects such as our own regional Hordaland Youth Brass Band. We also round off 2023 with a New Year's Eve Concert at the Grieghallen."
The band conformed that MD Reid Gilje will work alongside conductors Florent Didier, Andreas Hansson and the exciting young Norwegian orchestral conductor Gunnvald Ottesen amongst others.
