St George's Day was celebrated throughout England today (23rd April).
Photographer Lorne Campbell was out and about to capture images with a brass band angle to send to regional and national media outlets and linked up with Captain Andrew Porter and his family.
National events
Andrew is the Director of Music for British Army Band Tidworth, one of three professional brass bands within the Royal Corps of Army Music. In 2021 under Andrew's leadership, they became the first professional British Brass Band to perform as part of the iconic Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
The Army Brass Bands continue to play an important part in national events, with Andrew alongside fellow musicians they are preparing to perform in the procession of the Coronation of His Majesty the King.
Inspiring next generation
Andrew is also MD of Morecambe Band, where his wife Carol plays flugel horn and conducts their growing Academy Band.
They will be undertaking an outreach programme this Summer that will see the band visit local schools to deliver free concerts showcasing 100 years of Disney, in the hope of attracting young people to learn a musical instrument.

Footsteps
Their daughter Aoife (aged 8) has certainly been inspired and has been learning the trombone so that she can emulate her Grandad Billy and Morecambe's talented solo trombone player, Becky.
If she doesn't follow in Andrew's footsteps as a professional musician, she told 4BR at she wants to follow her mother's love for science and become an Aerospace Engineer for NASA.
