Cory Band and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWMCD) has announced the launch of its 2023 composition competition.
It is the seventh time it has been held, with entrants hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous winners such as composers Andrew Wainwright, Andy Wareham and 2022 recipient Ben Fuller, who have been able to use the prestige of the award to further their careers.
Details
Applications are invited to submit new pieces of no more than 5 minutes duration with a closing date of 1st September.
A shortlist of four works will be chosen, all of which will be rehearsed and recorded by the world's number 1 ranked band at the RWCMD in November, with a series of short programmes broadcast on their YouTube channel soon after.
A public vote alongside the verdict of three judges will determine the winning entry, which will subsequently be added to Cory's concert programmes as well as being published by Wright & Round.
The winning entrant will receive a cheque for £300 sponsored by partners sponsors New Moon Insurance.
