The hugely experienced Jim Davies becomes the new Musical Director of Crofton Silver Band.

Jim Davies
Jim Davies brings a CV packed with experience

Crofton Silver Band has announced the appointment of the vastly experienced Jim Davies as their new Musical Director.

The renowned former principal cornet of Cory and Brighouse & Rastrick has also enjoyed considerable success with the baton — from Tongwynlais Temperance, Ammanford and Tredegar in Wales to Carlton Main, EYMS, Drighlington, Skelmanthorpe and Newstead Brass.

Celebrations

He will now lead the Yorkshire First Section band in what will be their 150th year celebrations.

Speaking about the appointment he said: "I'm delighted to be asked to lead my local band at such an historic time. I've already found them to be a group of highly dedicated and enthusiastic musicians who are willing to work hard to achieve success."

Pleased

In response a band spokesperson added: "We are so pleased to have been able to attract a conductor of Jim's calibre particularly in our anniversary year. We have been enjoying a very successful period and we're sure that he's the right conductor to keep progressing.

They added: "We would also like to thank Rob Hyland-Bushnell who kindly stepped in as our interim conductor during the audition process. He has helped prepare the band for several engagements as well as lead us for a couple of recording projects through the summer."
