The brass duo 'Dopey Monkey' which consists of euphonium and tuba duo Martin Lee Thompson and Danielle Price has been announced as the winner of the 2022-24 Ensemble in Residence with Chamber Music Scotland.
The duo is renowned for their diverse and innovative new music which draws on jazz, folk, classical, and experimental music, and which is delivered with a passion about showcasing the versatility of their instruments.
Touring
Originally from Moray, they have performed across the UK and internationality, including GravÃssimo, the International Tuba-Euphonium Association, and Nordic Music Days.
In 2022 they toured with Laura Jurd, were Dandelion Artists in Residence at Findhorn Bay Arts, and became Britten Pears Arts Young Artists in Residence as well as Denis Wick Performing Artists.
Thrilled
The duo told 4BR: "We are thrilled to become the Ensemble in Residence with Chamber Music Scotland and work on collaborative projects over the next three years. We can't wait to get started."
They added: "We believe that there is a space within the chamber music sector for the playful and experimental. As an ensemble, we feel that we align well with CMS's exploration of what chamber music is, who it is for, and what it can be."
