Brass Bands England's flagship education programme 'Brass Foundations' has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 'Outstanding Musical Initiative' category of the prestigious Music & Drama Education Awards.
The annual awards celebrate the extraordinary contribution made by individuals, companies, charities, schools and other organisations to the lives of others through the medium of the two key performing arts.
Outstanding
The 'Outstanding Musical Initiative category' is sponsored by the Royal Marines Band Service and sees significant organisations such as Opera North, Awards for Young Musicians and National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain shortlisted alongside BBBE's hugely successful programme.
Speaking about the shortlisting, Sarah Baumann, BBE's Education & Development Manager, told 4BR: "BBE is delighted by the news. In its two years the Brass Foundations programme, has gone from strength to strength creating opportunities for young people across the country to experience brass.
This is fantastic recognition and shows that providing opportunities for children and young people who would otherwise never have access to brass banding has never been more important."
