Cross border battle at US Open

Eight bands from the USA and Canada will look to provide the title winning entertainment at this year's US Open.

  Eight bands will compete for the top prize this year.

The Great Lakes Brass Band Association is to host the 2022 US Open Championship.

The main entertainment competition event will take place on Saturday, November 19th at the Clarkston Performing Arts Center in Clarkston, Michigan.

The Friday evening will feature the traditional Buskers competition, which will be held at GravCap Brewing, where small ensembles from the various bands will provide their entertainment sets.

The US Open offers podium awards as well as those for 'Most Entertaining', 'Best Performance of a March', 'Best Soloist', and several other categories.

Main contest

The main contest begins on Saturday morning at 10.00am and will feature performances by eight American and Canadian bands.

Five Lakes Silver, Oakland University Brass, Motor City Brass, Capital City Brass, Mid Michigan Brass and Dublin Silver will be joined by Weston Silver.

The Clarkston High School Brass Band will be featured as a part of the awards ceremony.

Entertainment

Christopher Ward, chairperson of the Great Lakes Brass Band Association told 4BR: "We are excited to bring the US Open to Michigan and look forward to two days of great music and entertainment from these superb bands."

Tickets for the Saturday band competition will be available at the door (cash or credit) and are $20 for adults and $15 for Seniors 65 and over. Children 12 and under are free.

The Buskers competition on Friday is free to everyone.

The Clarkston Schools Instrumental Music Association will be on hand throughout the day with lunch and concessions as well as multiple vendors with sheet music, mouthpieces, batons, and more.
