Staines Brass has announced the appointment of their new Musical Director, Gareth Trott.
Hailing from Pembrokeshire in West Wales, Gareth is a serving military musician with HM Band of the Irish Guards. He will transfer to the Welsh Guards in November.
Widespread experience
During his service he has gained widespread experience of high-profile state occasions, including both the proclamation of King Charles III and the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
The RWCMD graduate is a former member of the National Youth Brass Band and National Youth Orchestra of Wales and is Euphonium Tutor at the London College of Music as well as an Ambassador for Geneva Instruments.
He has enjoyed a growing reputation as a composer, notably working with Grimethorpe Colliery Band as well as Tredegar Band.

Opportunity
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Gareth's appointment has given us the opportunity to re-energise following an eighteen-month shutdown of activities caused by the pandemic."
In response, Gareth added: "I relish the opportunity to work with the band in what is a transitionary rebuilding period. Their musical ethos is great, and they are keen to push themselves.
