Hull Music Service, the lead partner for Hull Music Hub and City of Hull Band is forming a new partnership to develop brass playing in the city.
As the city's only Championship Section band, City of Hull Band has been rehearsing twice a week in Barton-upon-Humber.
Rehearsals
This new partnership will see their Wednesday rehearsals take place at the Albemarle Music Centre, whilst the band have been commissioned by the Music Hub to run a Youth Band.
It is hoped that over time, it will nurture the next generation of brass players for youth ensembles, including City of Hull in the Albemarle and wider area.
Fantastic opportunity
Speaking about the link, James Dickinson, Head of Hull Music Service said: "Music Hub's work is based on partnerships, and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to work with City of Hull Band to champion and promote brass playing through this new youth band."
He added: "We are looking forward to welcoming the band to the Albemarle and enabling them to enjoy a home in the city for one of their weekly rehearsals."

Raise profile
In response, Band Chairperson Tony Newiss added: "Hull has always been our 'home' and the band was formed to raise the profile of brass playing in the area and provide a platform of performance to which local young brass musicians could aspire.
This new partnership takes us a step nearer to achieving our objectives."
The Youth Band is open to all brass players in full-time education and is free — as are all ensembles and activities at The Albemarle Music Centre.
