The Meltham & Meltham Mills Band has been presented with a 'Pride of Meltham' award.
The accolade recognises the tremendous ongoing work the Yorkshire band organisation has inspired during the past year — with a beginners 'Junior Blast' band created in January. The senior band was also crowned Yorkshire Second Section champion in March, whilst a new Meltham Community Brass ensemble started in May.
Achievements
A spokesperson told 4BR: "We represented Yorkshire at the Cheltenham National Finals in September. The band have also been awarded a grant from the Town Council to help with our Brass Roots project and we also installed a band bench in the village to celebrate our 175th year anniversary.
They added: "Being awarded a 'Pride of Meltham' award has well and truly put the cherry on the cake of a fantastic year and we offer a big thank-you to Richard J Noon, the Town Council, local businesses and villagers for the support that we receive."
