The power of Yorkshire musical electricity

The good folk of Holmfirth enjoyed the musical power of the new Hade Edge Hofbrau Band thanks to a mix of ingenuity and beer...

Hade Edge
  Electrifying smiles and music making...

The newly formed Hade Edge Hofbrau Band's recent debut performance was certainly one to remember.

It involved having to overcome a power cut which cut off the power in half of the small Yorkshire town of Holmfirth to entertain the audience at a packed O'Briens's Bar with a full evening's entertainment, including traditional 'Octoberfest' music and some great popular 'bangers' from the 1980's and 90's.

Candles

Band leader Graham 'Master Blaster' Bates told 4BR: "We heard about the outage shortly before the gig and were able to assemble enough lights, including candles to start the concert as planned.

The venue was still able to offer refreshments — which kept everyone happy — and which made the atmosphere even better. As we say in Yorkshire, everyone 'just got on with it'…"

Thanks

He added: "It just goes to show how great our movement is that we can adapt to challenges like this so positively. I can't thank the group enough for the way they pulled together both during rehearsals and especially on the night.

Our hosts are already looking for a bigger venue next year — hopefully with no problems with the electricity!"
