Bodmin Youth Band has announced the appointment of Lowenna Taylor as their new Musical Director.

Lowenna started her playing career at Indian Queens before progressing to become solo horn with St Dennis Youth and Senior Bands, as well as principal horn of the Cornwall Youth Brass Band.

Cornwall return

A first-class graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Lowenna played with Tredegar, Cory and City of Cardiff Melingriffith and was part of Tredegar's 2010 British Open success.

In 2020 Lowenna moved back to Cornwall and has mixed her successful professional career with her banding.

She told 4BR: "I'm really excited to help encourage the next generation of brass band players with Bodmin and in Cornwall. I hope I can pass on some of my experience and knowledge to boost the already brilliant talent that we have here."
