WFEL Fairey Band will be thrilled to be wearing the wrong trousers for a band concert with a fantastic difference in Stockport in July.

The band has teamed up with film producers Aardman for a special performance screening of the Academy Award winning short film; 'Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers' at Stockport Plaza cinema (Sunday 17th July at 3.30pm).

Special score

Almost 30 years since the family film premiered to create a worldwide phenomenon, it will see the band perform its famous accompanying score which has been specially transcribed in association with Aardman and Julian Nott.

Aardman's productions are famed for their appeal, wit and charm from Wallace & Gromit, to Shaun the Sheep, Timmy Time and Morph. Their feature film have won multiple Oscars and BAFTAs.

Devious penguin

The 1993 stop motion animated film directed by Nick Park tells the tale of eccentric inventor Wallace as he is forced to take in a new lodger, a devious penguin, called Feathers McGraw.

Wallace's loyal canine companion, Gromit, is moved out of his bedroom to make way for the new guest, but he soon discovers all is not as it seems when the cool-as-a-cucumber new arrival takes a keen interest in Wallace's techno-trousers!

The escapades that follow were described by critics as being "laugh out loud funny".

Excited

Looking forward to the production, WFEL Fairey MD, Adam Cooke said: "Everyone loves Wallace & Gromit, so we are all excited to be working on this unique performance and introducing them and brass bands to new audiences.

It's a special family-friendly concert with the music the perfect accompaniment to a brilliant family film."

The afternoon performance will also see the band provide a short concert prelude of family favourites before a short interval and the screening.
