Euphonium talent on show for prizes at Fontys Academy

13 players will battle for the prestigious Fontys AMPA Euphonium Competition in the Netherlands today.

The prestigious Fontys AMPA Euphonium Competition will take place at the Fontys Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) Tilburg, Netherlands today.

International

Organised by the respected soloist and teacher Robbert Vos it will see 13 participants of from different nationalities compete against each other to try and claim the title.

The international jury panel consists of Renato Meli, Arnold Span and Jan van den Eijnden.

First prize sponsored by Buffet Crampon is worth €500, with additional podium prizes provided by them and sponsors K&G.

Delighted

Robbert told 4BR: "We have been delighted by the response and we hope the event, which is open to the public will showcase the incredible amount of euphonium talent from around the world."

The first competitor will take to the stage at 10.00am, with the final taking place at around 3.00pm. All the finalists will perform James Curnow's 'Concerto for Euphonium' accompanied by pianist Toon Bierman.

Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band

August 18 • Putney and Wimbledon Band are looking for a percussionist, ideally tune although the ability to play an anvil is an absolute must! We play exciting music with lots of percussion so there's plenty to keep you occupied.
