Trombone virtuoso Peter Moore will perform Dani Howard's 'Trombone Concerto' with the London Symphony Orchestra this weekend.
Written for him, the concerto drew widespread critical acclaim following its premiere with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in June 2021.
Instant classic
It was called "an instant classic"by Richard Morrison in The Times newspaper, whilst Sean & Heard described it as "a work of substance and frequent beauty".
Written by the composer during the Covid-19 lockdown, it has since won a Royal Philharmonic Society Award.
Speaking about the concerto with the composer, Peter said: "There is a certain level I feel to premiere a work like this, which is such a great addition to the repertoire."
Earlier this year Peter Moore performed Simon Dobson's 'Shift' concerto to critical acclaim at the RNCM Brass Band Festival in Manchester.
It will form part of a concert at the Barbican Hall in London (7.00pm) which will also include Stravinsky's 'Firebird', Ravel's suite, 'Mother Goose' and 'L'Eloignement' by Qigang Chen.
