The Flowers Band has announced that it is to make a long-term youth development investment in partnership with Gloucestershire Academy of Music.
The West of England band will create a brand new junior brass group called Flowers Junior Brass, which will start recruiting players in the summer term at the Academy.
Aimed at youngsters of up to Grade 4 (or equivalent) standard, it will be led by Flowers' bass trombonist Peter Richards.
Objective
It has the objective of giving young brass players within the Gloucestershire and surrounding counties the opportunity to be a part of an exciting, progressive ensemble, as well as experience the huge musical and social benefits that come with it.
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Flowers is recognised for its musical excellence, so we hope to offer a wonderfully inclusive opportunity to use that platform to build and improve on the current system of brass music education within the county."
Thrilled
They added: "We are thrilled to finally set up Flowers Junior Brass, and we have lots of exciting plans as to how this group can best inspire local young brass players and add to the rich musical landscape in our area."
The first rehearsal of Flowers Junior Brass will take place at Gloucestershire Academy of Music on Thursday 28th April.
