The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has just started its 2022 Easter Course in Harrogate.

This year the talented youngsters will be directed by conductor Irene Anda (left), whilst the guest soloist is the wonderful Norwegian trombonist Grethe Tonheim.

We caught up with them as they prepared to start work on a demanding programme of repertoire with a theme of 'celebration' of the traditions that have marked 70 years of the NYBBGB's music making, as well as the positive approach it has instilled towards issues of gender and ethnicity.

The 2022 course will be rounded off by two concerts — the first a 70th anniversary Alumni Reunion at Harrogate Ladies College on Friday 15th April, followed by the Youth Band itself in concert at Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday 16th April at 7.00pm.
