The International Summer Brass Band Camp, run under the umbrella of the Jena Competence Centre for Brass in Germany will return to its traditional format later this year.
Started in 2018, it had to take a Covid-19 enforced break in the past two years, but will now welcome delegates once more from 21st to 27th August, at the KiEZ 'Am Filzteich' in Schneeberg in Saxony.
Musical experience
The course will be led by Helen Varley, solo horn of Grimethorpe Colliery Band who told 4BR: "There is nothing like the musical experience that a summer camp provides — the feeling of being completely immersed in music is really wonderful.
At the same time, the experience of being surrounded by musicians who have a passion and a desire to learn is also so rewarding."
Helen will be joined by Christopher Houlding, Professor of Trombone at the Folkwang University of the Arts, who added: "These wonderful courses are always packed with unforgettable musical and social experiences that musicians will remember throughout their musical careers — so we look forward to meeting as many people as possible."
Attractions
Alexander Richter conductor of the Brass Band BlechKLANG will also be part of the organisation set-up, and added: "We have plenty of attractions to inspire during the week to help with confidence and improvement.
The fundamentals taught during the course for both ensemble and solo playing are vital for the continued development of skills — no matter what age, stage of development or musical style a player enjoys."
