The latest edition of the leading music publication 'Musical Opinion' contains an extended article of appreciation written by Paul Hindmarsh on composer Edward Gregson.
Birthday
Prof Gregson celebrated his 75th birthday earlier this year and was to have had his latest major work 'The World Rejoicing' performed at the 2020 British Open and major national championships.
However, the Coronavirus pandemic put pay to that, although the year did see the release of the latest CD of his works on the Naxos label.
The article gives a fascinating insight into the Sunderland born composer's career — one that has spanned seven decades and shows no sign of stopping.
Golden period
As Paul Hindmarsh says in the opening to the article: "Gregson at 75 is enjoying something of a golden period of productivity."
