The new CD from Richard Marshall and a classic piece of concert work are added to the Wobplay catalogue

Wobplay.com has announced two fantastic new releases — both with a touch of Black Dyke magic.

Richard Marshall

The first is the eagerly awaited new CD by Richard Marshall, celebrating 15 years as principal cornet of the Queensbury band.

'Sonatina' features four major works, including superb performances of the iconic Denis Wright, Martin Ellerby and Edward Gregson concertos as well as the title reading of Elgar Howarth's composition, written specially for him.

Richard told 4BR: "The intention is to celebrate major repertoire for the instrument. Three of the works have been written for or premiered by me, whilst the fourth, Dr Denis Wright's 'Cornet Concerto' remains the standard bearer for any performer."

Epic Brass

'Epic Brass' was the gala concert presentation for 2001 National Championships and brought together the talents of the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army and Black Dyke on peak form.

Featuring household names such as David Thornton, Roger Webster and David Daws as soloists and of course Stephen Cobb and Nicholas Childs at their respective helms, this is a blast from the past well worth revisiting!
