Classic fm feature new Black Dyke release as Album of the Week

The new CD release from Black Dyke Band performing works by the renowned English composer John Rutter is the CD Album of the week on the Classic fm radio station

The sound of Black Dyke Band will be heard to millions of listeners this week on Classic fm radio.

Their latest release of the works of renowned English choral composer John Rutter, entitled 'Anthems, Hymns and Gloria for Brass Band' is the CD album of the week and will be performed each day on the Alexander Arnold Show (9.00am — 12.00pm).

The album has just been released on the Naxos label and features works spanning the period 1974 to 2011, all arranged by Luc Vertommen, directed by Prof Nicholas Childs.

Principal cornet Richard Marshall is a featured soloist on 'Requiem: Pie Jesu', whilst the band is joined by the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus under conductor Darius Battiwalla for the magnificent 'Gloria'.

Composed for his first American tour, 'Gloria' was also his first great international success, combining an ethereal quality with moments of exhilaration.
