The National Band of New Zealand will perform its first and only concert of 2020 next month in Hamilton.

The band will be conducted by Musical Director David Bremner at the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts Centre on 1st November (2.00pm) in a concert that will feature a new work specially written for the event by composer Jack Bewley.

Also featured will be principal cornet and Besson International artist Harmon Vanhoorne, solo horn Mike Ford and solo euphonium Steve Miles.

Tickets

It is hoped that there will be the possibility of a further relaxation of audience restrictions. Tickets are therefore available through the band's website: www.nationalband.co.nz

During the band's rehearsal weekend in Hamilton, it will also hold a free workshop open to all brass and percussion players.

Challenges

Band manager Garth Coffey told 'The Mouthpiece', the National Brass Band Association of New Zealand monthly publication that planning for the weekend, under current alert level restrictions, has presented numerous challenges.

However, he said that the band members are excited to finally be able to perform to a live audience in what will be their only concert for this year.

Coffey was also delighted to announce Besson as the chief sponsor of the National Band and looks forward to working with them over the next few years4BR

Besson sponsor

Coffey was also delighted to announce Besson as the chief sponsor of the National Band and looks forward to working with them over the next few years.

He said that the support would "significantly assist the band with its future performances and workshops throughout New Zealand over the next few years".
