Shaving a few quid for Carlton Main

One hirsute supporter is making the ultimate sacrifice to help support Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band ...

Razor
The razor will be sharpened ready for action...

Bands all over the globe are currently exploring ever more inventive ways to raise funds to help them through the current Coronavoirus pandemic, although beard shaving seems to be a first.

Hirsute gesture

However, Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band will benefit from the hirsute gesture from supporter Stuart Highfield, the Chairman of the local Frickley Athletic Football Club.

He will be helping to raise £1,000 for the Yorkshire top flight contenders by having his beard shaved off before his team's next game versus the mighty Market Drayton Town on Saturday 24th October.

His great show of support (he hasn't been clean shaven since watching the 1973 FA Cup Final) was reported in 'Pitching In' the website of the Northern Premier League4BR

1973

His great show of support (he hasn't been clean shaven since watching the 1973 FA Cup Final) was reported in 'Pitching In' the website of the Northern Premier League, which said. "Stuart has allowed his usually beautifully manicured beard to develop somewhat during lockdown — so much so that it has now got its own postcode.

We are very lucky to have a world famous band in our community — so come on, let's show them what they mean to us."
