IBBCC finalists announced

You can now vote for one of the five finalists in the 2020 International Brass Band Composer Competition following the success of the worldwide competition.

The five finalists have been announced for the 2020 International Brass Band Composer Competition.

Works by Rebecca Lundberg, Marcus Venables, Robbert Vos, Morten Jonas Wallin and Andy Wareham were chosen from 92 worldwide entries by the panel of judges, James Curnow, Dr. Liz Lane and Paul Hindmarsh.

Global appeal

The global appeal of the Brookwright competition set up by composer, arranger, graphic designer and journalist Andrew Wainwright was such that entries were received from 14 different countries — Australia to Canada, Denmark to Japan.

Andrew told 4BR that the standard was incredibly high although a special 'Highly Commended' mention went to 15 year Morris Harper for his work 'Spring Dance'.

Vote for favourite

Andrew told 4BR: "We now encourage all viewers to vote for their favourite piece by clicking 'like' on the respective YouTube video.

The video with the most likes by 6.00pm UK time on Thursday 1st October will be awarded a 'Public Commendation Prize'. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by the judges.

The videos are currently anonymous and the identity of each piece will be revealed with the announcements."
