The five finalists have been announced for the 2020 International Brass Band Composer Competition.

Works by Rebecca Lundberg, Marcus Venables, Robbert Vos, Morten Jonas Wallin and Andy Wareham were chosen from 92 worldwide entries by the panel of judges, James Curnow, Dr. Liz Lane and Paul Hindmarsh.

Global appeal

The global appeal of the Brookwright competition set up by composer, arranger, graphic designer and journalist Andrew Wainwright was such that entries were received from 14 different countries — Australia to Canada, Denmark to Japan.

Andrew told 4BR that the standard was incredibly high although a special 'Highly Commended' mention went to 15 year Morris Harper for his work 'Spring Dance'.
