Although the 2020 British Open Championship contest didn't take place on the weekend, we hope everyone enjoyed the musical entertainment that was provided by the Friday evening Gala Concert featuring Cory, Black Dyke, Mnozil Brass and the RBC Brass Band, as well as the Saturday programme that looked back at the 2019 event.
Somebody did win a great British Open prize though by answering our special quiz question correctly.
Tom
We wanted to know which player won the Stanley Wainwright Trophy at the 2019 British Open for their performance on 'Dynasty' by Peter Graham.
It was of course Tom Hutchinson, principal cornet of the eventual winner, Cory — who played the opening in particular just like a heavenly voice from above…
Thanks to everyone who entered — and we had a fantastic response.
Winner
The winner picked out of the velvet bag of virtual anonymity was Sarah Tucker from Littleborough in Greater Manchester.
Sarah plays trombone with Hebden Bridge Band, but will be handing over her prize to her eldest son aged 7 who is just starting to play.
